Electrical Safety at WMC: Golden Rules That Save Lives
Safety starts with small actions that make a big difference. At WMC, we know that electrical work requires special attention. A spark, a damaged cable, or a moment of carelessness can turn into a serious accident in just seconds.
That’s why at WMC we follow 7 Golden Rules of Electrical Safety, designed to protect us and ensure that every task is carried out without putting people or operations at risk.
Here are the seven rules we must apply every day:
- De-energize before working: never touch a panel, equipment, or installation without making sure it is fully powered off.
- Use Lockout/Tagout (LOTO): your lock is your protection; it prevents someone from accidentally turning on a machine.
- Verify absence of voltage: always confirm with the right instruments that no energy is present before starting.
- Wear the proper PPE: gloves, shields, and certified protection reduce the impact of any incident.
- Keep water and moisture away: never work in wet areas or with damp equipment.
- Authorized personnel only: electrical work must only be done by trained and certified staff.
- Report damaged cords or equipment: a faulty cable can cause fires or shocks. If you see it, report it.
These golden rules are simple, but powerful. If each of us applies them responsibly, we not only prevent accidents, but we also know that teamwork begins with taking care of one another.
A Culture of Prevention
At WMC, electrical safety is not just about following instructions—it’s part of our preventive culture. We believe that every person, regardless of their role, has the responsibility to identify risks, act in time, and protect both their teammates and themselves. Prevention means anticipating risks, stopping when something doesn’t look right, and speaking up without fear when an unsafe condition is encountered.
This culture is reinforced every day in our plants and offices, where prevention is not seen as an obligation, but as a shared commitment. Every inspection, every report, and every safety conversation are steps that build a more reliable and sustainable environment.
At WMC, we are clear about this: safety is non-negotiable—it’s the way we work.
